We often hear this term used by technicians in the Bodybuilding & Fitness.

What does biomechanics mean?

The analysis of the mechanics of human movement is called biomechanics.

Biomechanics is the science that explains how and why the human body moves in a certain way.

This includes the interaction between the performer, the equipment used and the environment.

Biomechanics, in other words, is the science that studies the movement of human body when it is solicited by internal and external stimuli in static or dynamic situations.

To do this, it uses the laws of physics and finds application in sport and physical activity because it helps improve the performance obtainable by athletes.

Basically, therefore, the study and application of biomechanics has the aim of perform a detailed analysis of human movement
(of whatever nature) to avoid trauma and injury.

Within biomechanics we can find the concepts of kinetics

(the analysis of the forces acting on the body) and of the kinematics (l analysis of body movements).

As far as we and our sector are concerned, we are interested in what biomechanics analyzes and studies the movement applied to sport or to a specific exercise inherent in our training program, our physical condition and our final goal.

Why is it useful to know biomechanics?
